I Had A Moment

I had a moment last night

One of those rare moments in life

A moment when you notice something

Something about your life, something affirming

Affirming your past choices, that they were right,

That you made the right choices in the big picture.

In the moment I was playing guitar

I was practicing for something rare in 2020 – a concert.

Who can do that?

We’re already rare.

The repertoire is rusty due to COVID killing live music.

COVID trashed my calendar and income, my musician friends, and musicians the world over.

We retreated to Netflix, and our guitars wept.

But here and there, a bit of work – an outdoor wedding, a YouTube Live Stream,

Sparse, not at all like last year.

And that Netflix series is addictive.

The message -– “We want you to give a concert in our backyard this Sunday” –

Grab Big Red, change the strings and practice.

Nice! – the hands work, and the guitar is singing loud and clear.

If the hands work, the brain is working… the music is flowing.

Then the moment – the top of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs,

And midway through the set

All prior gigs led to this moment.

I feel blessed to have made it this far.

Words fail,

It was a very special moment.
